When the operator pulls the chain to lift the load, the movement of the chain is used to rotate a gear, which puts in motion a system of axes and gears multiple, connected to the lifting chain. Then there are two hooks: one at the end of the lifting chain, to attach to the weight, and the other on the hoist to attach it to a solid structure that can bear the weight of the object to be lifted.

How to use a manual chain hoist?
The functioning of the manual hoist chain is very simple: you hook the hoist to a solid structure that can withstand safely the weight of the object to be lifted, and hook the lifting chain to the object that you want to lift (you usually need to use another chain, assuring you that around the object and then hook it to the chain lifting), and you pull the chain.
Despite the simplicity of use, hurt themselves or damage something is always possible. For this it is necessary to take precautions:
First, we need to make sure you have mounted the hoist to a point, very resistant, that is able to support the weight of what we are going to lift. At the time of use, it is necessary to check that the structure is working and that everything is in order, that the chain does not present problems. The weight of the object you must lift must be appropriate to the maximum capacity of the hoist. Before using the hoist with objects of considerable weight it is best to test with something lighter, lifting it up a bit and leaving it suspended for a moment. Most of the times it is necessary to turn a chain around the object to lift, and then hook the chain to the hoist. In this case the balance is very important: we must always try to match the attachment point with the center of gravity of the object.
Being a mechanical system, maintenance is non-existent. The only thing to do is to lubricate the system occasionally to keep it clean and inspect everything before each use. In the moment in which the lifting chain by even the slightest sign of damage or failure, should be replaced for safety reasons. The gear system, and finally, it must be absolutely protected from sand or other agents that may prevent the correct operation of the gear system.
