The maintenance of the mower

Categories : Offers & News

Like all engines, even the one for the mower to turn on needs a source of fuel, air and a spark to start the combustion process. Therefore, the first measures for the proper maintenance of the machinery affecting the fuel, the air filter and the spark plug:

Come effettuare la manutenzione del rasaerba

1The gasoline must not be stale. If the petrol remains in the tank (periods longer than 3-4 months), the combustion inside the engine will fail causing loss of power in the engine or even non-operation of the machine (caused by the residue of fuel not properly burned). If I had to keep the gasoline in the tanks for long periods of time use a stabilizer in fuel to prevent oxidation.

2The air filter must be clean. If the filter is clogged the engine will not receive the necessary air, preventing the ignition process. Whether your filter is of sponge paper, you can clean it with your hands or use compressed air, but if it is very damaged it is better to change it.

3The spark plug must be in good condition. The spark plug generates the fire that ignites the gasoline that drives the piston to start the engine. Without this process, the engine will not turn over. The spark plug should be cleaned with a brush (also metal) and a bit of gasoline. If the electrode is worn should be changed to because you will find it hard to do the spark causing difficulty power problems during usage (the engine will not go to maximum).

If you've taken these precautions, but your lawn mower gives me problems with the ignition or has a trend "to tear", it could be a problem of adjustment of the carburetor. The problem can be solved by locating and adjusting the right screws, but it is a very delicate operation because of the risk of compromising the correct operation of the machine, which would become unusable. It is a work, therefore, to let the experts do this.

Before putting away the mower to the end of the season..

Before storing your lawn mower and leave it stationary for many months, you have to take some precautions and clean it well, removing all residue of internal and external which would be to create deposits that can irreparably ruin the plate (fouling outside) or the parts of the engine (fouling the internal). So here's what you need to do, always being very careful not to accidentally throw the drawstring during the various operations:

CheckedDrain the gasoline from the tank into a suitable container.
CheckedChange the oil if the machine was used often or top up simply.
CheckedTurn the mower on the opposite side of the carburetor and the filter will not cause oil leaks). Scrape away all grass and debris from the bottom with a scraper from a paint or something similar.
CheckedCheck that the blade is not damaged from wear and tear, chipped or just dull. In case you remove the blades and take them to a professional for sharpening. If you need to change them you can do it yourself taking care to choose the blades of the model and of the appropriate dimensions to your mower. The important thing is not to modify or alter the blades in any way in order not to jeopardise the balance and functioning in general.
CheckedKeep the cooling fins cleaned by removing any residual grass or debris, to avoid that they arrive to the engine and cause problems. And' possible to clean with compressed air (for dirty little insistent) or with water, avoiding to spray it directly on the carburetor and the air filter for a long time. Check that the filter is dry after cleaning.
CheckedSet in motion the machine to let it dry all the parts. Note: if the filter is wet, the machine will find it hard to light up. Dry it well, therefore, with compressed air.
CheckedLeave motor running until it turns off by itself. This to consume all of the residue of the gas that, during the period of the firm, could clog up the carburetor.
